Week 10: Perceived More Attractive

Using the data from 7 to 10 on the 10-point Likert scale, I have analyzed the data which represents the population that believe they are more attractive than their friends and other teens. These survey responses represent teens who find celebrities to be less attractive than themselves. The majority of these teens feel satisfied with themselves; however, only a slight majority (by a difference of 4 responses) wish they could have more respect for themselves. An overwhelming majority of these teens feel that they are people of worth or at least on an equal plane with other teenagers. The majority of teens who feel more attractive than others know that very skinny models and actresses have unhealthy eating and exercise lifestyles. They disagree that kids become overweight because kids eat too much. About 71% of these teens agree that those overweight do not deserve to be teased or not accepted by peers at school. The majority know that a person cannot gain a pound or more from eating a serving of cake, meat, or ice cream. Unfortunately, the majority of these teens show the two symptoms of depression tested in the survey. The trend among these survey responses is that the majority believe they are one size larger than the most desirable body size.

It is important to note that the majority of data from this portion of the data collected are from high socio-economic status, and have mainly spend their teenage years in the United States.
